Only Vets in the area with staff on site 24/7

We hope you and your pets are well and coping with the recent hot weather spell. We all enjoy the sunshine but it can bring some challenges for our furry friends. For more information on keeping them safe in the summer please read the tips on our website

We have really enjoyed having you back in the practice with your pets this last few months and are pleased to be able to relax our coronavirus restrictions further. We are still restricting numbers in our waiting room but no longer require you to wear face masks in the practice.

If you are vulnerable and still have concerns regarding covid please let us know. We are happy to wear masks during consultations where owners prefer or to examine your pet with a nurse if you do not want to come into the building.

We have also been glad to open our Llanfairfechan branch on all week days again, we know our patients who live further down the coast love to visit us there.

With staff holidays over the summer there may be some days we are unable to offer vet appointments but will still be open every week day for collection of medications. If your pet needs to be seen by a vet at Llanfairfechan please give us a ring and we will find an appointment to suit you.

For any emergencies we are on hand in Colwyn Bay to treat your companions.

With mixed emotions we celebrated the retirement of Ann and Dicky in May. As the founding parents of our Prospect House family they have been a true inspiration to all of us who have joined the team along the way.

The Practice has grown since 1985, under their hard work and guidance, into the amazing place you bring your furry friends for their veterinary care. The rest of the Prospect family will be continuing in our shared goal to give the best care to your companions for many years to come.

We wish them a happy retirement spending time with their family, tending to their alpacas and exploring the beautiful countryside of the British Isles. Many thanks to you all for the cards, gift and kind wishes, they have been overwhelmed by your support.

We also said goodbye in June to our vet Zara who has moved on to a new adventure at the Royal Veterinary College in London, where she hope to develop further her special skills in dermatology.

Zara has been a part of the Practice seeing practice with us when in high school through her time in university and during the first 2 years of her career as a Veterinary Surgeon. We are sad to lose her but wish her good luck and look forward to hearing great things about her new career path.

We welcome a new receptionist to our team, Rachel Jones. She has settled in well and is enjoying working alongside pets and their owners. Rachel enjoys time out in the countryside with her dog Ripley and coming home to her two kittens.

Prospect House Non leaving

We hope you have enjoyed our Facebook posts on interesting cases. One patient who deserves a special mention is a Golden Retriever puppy called Rome. Having come into us very unwell with vomiting and diarrhoea at just 8 weeks of age he underwent two bowel surgeries and had to have transfusions and a feeding tube to help support him.

Rome and his owners showed amazing strength to get through all the challenges on his road to recovery. We love having him back to visit now he is back to full health. You may see the lovely picture he presented to us in our waiting room. For his full story see our Facebook page.

Wishing you a happy and healthy Summer

From the Prospect House team
