There are two main strains of Leptospirosis seen in the UK which we cover with our yearly Booster vaccinations. Two more strains are seen more commonly in Europe but have the potential to increase in the UK.
As a result we have decided to change our Leptospirosis vaccination to include these extra two strains.
To make sure your dog gets the full protection from these extra two strains we will need to give them a second injection 4weeks after their Booster. This second visit will be free of charge. The following year they will be able to return to single yearly Booster injections.
The other components of our vaccination protocol remain unchanged so your dog will still receive a Distemper, Hepatitis and Parvovirus injection with their first adult booster injection and then every three years after that.
We know that some patients find the Kennel Cough vaccine in their nose stressful. For those patients we can now offer a vaccine in injection form against the main cause of Kennel Cough. Please let us know if you think this would be beneficial for your pet and the Vet can discuss the protocol further when we see you.
If you have any queries regarding these changes please feel free to contact us to discuss them further. We look forward to seeing you and your dog soon
Best Wishes
